Random Chance impressive

PA Dunedin Random Chance, which will be ridden by the apprentice, Shane McCann, on Saturday, recorded an impressive gallop at Wingatui yesterday morning. McCann will claim 3kg for Random Chance in the Phaups Hosiery Handicap, the second leg of the T.A.B. double. The allowance will provide relief from the top weight of 57kg.

Random Chance carried about 64kg yesterday under stable foreman, John Carvalho, when running the best 800 m of the morning — 53.65, the last 600 m in 40.25. Work was on the sand which was slushy after a wet spell. Some horses which galloped on the inside grass were down to about 15 seconds for 200 m in very heavy ground. A spring campaign for Random Chance in the North Island could hinge on track conditions.
