Ice hockey to Canty

Canterbury won the inaugural Hawker Shield New Zealand districts ice hockey championship at the Big Apple rink last week-end.

In the final; deciding game against Auckland on Sunday evening, Canterbury played a cooltempered game, winning 4-2.

Three districts contested the Shield. The championship was run in

a double round-robin format Southland and Auckland each lost both their games to Canterbury. Canterbury won its first match against Auckland, 13-0.

Canterbury was led in the competition by the Swiss-born Serge Domericoni.

Results were: Canterbury beat Auckland, 13-0, 4-2; Canterbury beat Southland, 28-1, 7-1; Auckland beat Southland, 14-4, 20-3.
