Party complaint to be laid
PA Wellington National Party dissatisfaction over voting procedures in last month’s election has not waned and a series of complaints will be lodged with the Electoral Office, said the party’s director, Mr Max Bradford, yesterday. Allegations of voting irregularities and errors were made by some National members of Parliament, including the leader, Mr Bolger, in the wake of the election. Mr Bradford said yesterday that the party would prepare written complaints to the Elec-
toral Office, “They (the Electoral Office) can expect to hear from us about the information we have had from people who were effectively disenfranchised. We will make that information available to them in writing.” Mr Michael Cox, who held Manawatu for National on election night but lost the seat after the counting of special votes, had accused the Electoral Office of issuing incorrect results during election night, said the Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, Mr Hugh Garland.
