Twelve Christchurch secondary school teams competed in the quiz. The quiz was organised by the Classics Department of the Classical Association of Christchurch. The winner of the classical dress was Skiki Peaufa, of Avonside Girls' High School. The winning team team was Rangi Ruru; Shirley Boys’ High, second; Papanui, third; and Avonside Girls’ High, fourth. The prize for the best dressed person in classical costume went to Skiki Peaufa of Avonside Girls’ High.
