More than 200 in intelligence

PA Invercargill More than 200 people still work in defence intelligence in New Zea-

land, said the Prime Minister, Mr Lange, in Invercargill yesterday. He was rejecting a claim by the National Party leader, Mr Bolger, in Sunday’s televised debate that only two people were left in defence intelligence after New Zealand’s status with A.N.Z.U.S. was downgraded.

“It took some time to compile the figures and we stopped when they got to a number in excess of 200,” said Mr Lange. He said it was "absolutely extraordinary” that Mr Bolger should be "so preposterously ill-in-formed” about a matter affecting New Zealand’s defence.
