C.I.B. examine shooting scene

Members of the Timaru C. 1.8. spent yesterday closely examining the Temuka saleyards’ auction room where a boy, aged 14, was shot dead on Sunday. The sawdust sale-ring was sifted through in an attempt to find the spent bullet which is thought to have killed Aaron Michael Holden, of Temuka. Holden was shot through the stomach from a range of about 20 feet. Department of Lands and Survey and Land Information staff are preparing a scale plan of the

saleyards building. The positions of exhibits found near the body are being charted on the plan, which include backpacks, feed, three rifles and an incendiary device.

The .308 rifle which is thought to have fired the fatal shot is still being examined in Wellington and a report is not expected until next-week. Another boy, aged 14, has been helping the police. He has been charged with burglary and placed in the care of the Department of Social Welfare.
