$17,000 paid for stud bull

A top price of $17,000 was paid for a stud bull at the annual Stern Angus sale in South Canterbury yesterday. It was bought by J. Murray, of Clarence Bridge, P. Gardiner, of Scargill, and Beechcroft Stud, of Southbridge. The sale grossed $143,750 for 31 bulls sold and the average price was $4637. Two North Island stud farms teamed up to buy a $lO,OOO Stem bull. Mr Colin Williams, the Angus Society president from Gisborne, bought a bull for $BOOO.
