Spencer-Bower Award closes
Applications close on . Friday for this year’s Oli--1 via Spencer-Bower Award. ; The award is worth i $20,000 and is intended to ‘ give the recipient a year’s i full-time concentration on • their art. It is open to ' painters and sculptors. The award was initiated .* by Olivia Spencer-Bower who provided for a ; foundation funded by the r sales of her paintings to J give an annual award.
The curator of the Olivia Spencer-Bower collection, Mr Bill Cumming, said the award was for Canterbury artists or artists with associations with Canterbury. , Last year’s award was made to a Christchurch i sculptor, Pauline Rhodes. The foundation recently held an auction of paintings by Olivia SpencerBower to fund this year’s award.
