English organist
An English organist, : Charles Spanner, will give ’ a recital in the Christ- “ church Cathedral on July • 31. Mr Spanner is the or- • ganist of St Andrew’s Reform Church in Eastbourne. He has been assistant organist at Cardiff Metropolitan Cathedral. In 1980 and 1984 he was awarded a scholarship by the Belgian Gov-
emment to study with the Belgian organist and composer, Flor Peeters. He has played in Britain and has made three recital tours to the United States. His programme will include music by Bach, Albinoni, Franck, Vierne, Elgar, Thalben-Ball and a young English composer, Garth Edmundson. The recital will begin at 12.30 p.m.
