I.U.D. hearing delayed

PA Wellington A United States court hearing scheduled for this week to consider how claims against the Daikon Shield manufacturer, A. H. Robins, could be processed and paid has been adjourned. The Wellington lawyer, Mr Michael Okkerse, acting for about 400 New Zealand Daikon Shield claimants, said the hearing was adjourned to allow for plans of a take-over of A. H. Robins by the American Rorer Group to be made final. The companies had been given until the end of the month to come up with something final and there had been little point in going ahead with the hearing until that was done, he said. If the take-over bid was successful it would be discussed in the context of the Daikon Shield damages claims. If the take-over did not go ahead, the Court had other options available to decide on the procedure and funding of the claims, Mr Okkerse said.
