N.Z. team named
Angela Walker, of Auckland, who has already taken part in international competition in Paris and Tokyo this year, heads the New Zealand team to attend the world rhythmic gymnastic championships in Varna, Bulgaria, in September. Walker, aged 19, hopes to cut her top 50 world ranking in half this year. A sponsorship from an Auckland-based manufacturer, Silverbridge Holdings, Ltd, and an A.G.C. Young Achiever’s Award, have helped meet the travel and accommodtions costs of the three international competi-
tions she will attend this year. Walker is considered the most talented rhythmic gymnast New Zealand has produced. The. full team announced in Christchurch by the board of directors of the New Zealand Gymnastic Association is.— Individual: Melanie Cairns (Bay of Plenty), Raewyn Jack, Walker (Auckland). Travelling reserve: Katie Agnew (Auckland). Group: Donna Chitty, Jackie Comber, Tracey Cooksley, Julia Griffiths, Samantha Greenwood, Gaela Kilgour, Bridget Leonard, Marie Wilson (Auckland).
