Kiwis do well at yachting regatta
NZPA-Reuter Kiel, West Germany New Zealand competitors fared well at the Olympic class yachting regatta at Kiel. Murray Jones and Greg Knowles finished second
in the fourth race of the Flying Dutchman event, after failing to make the top three in the third race. The class is being led by Canadians Frank McLaughlin and John Millen. But the real success
came in the men’s 470 dinghies where New Zealand pairings won both races. Peter Evans and Simon Mander won the fifth race, with Glen Sowry and Philip McNeill finishing second. Sowry and McNeill then won the.
sixth race. In the women’s 470 event, New Zealanders Fiona Galloway and Jan Shearer took second place in the fourth race, behind Americans Susan Dierdorff Taylor and Cory Fischer.
