NZPA-Reuter London The French Open finalist, Mats Wilander, became the latest victim of the switch from clay to grass when he lost to the West German, Eric Jelen, In the first round of the London grass court tennis championships yesterday.

Wilander, who contested the French Open title against Ivan Lendl on the clay surface centre court of Roland Garros on Monday, was beaten 6-3, 6-7, 6-4, in a match resumed in the third set after rain forced play to be suspended on Wednesday.
