First softball loss

NZPA staff correspondent Hong Kong The New Zealand women’s softball team suffered its first loss in the mini-world series when it was beaten, 1-0, by Japan in Taipei yesterday. Japan is the one undefeated team of the tournament with wins over Chinese Taipei, Canada and New Zealand. New Zealand is

scheduled to have a rest day today and is expected to play the United States and Canada tomorrow. Earlier in the tournament New Zealand recorded wins over The Philippines, 2-1, and Malaysia, 15-0. After the first round round-robin competition the teams are scheduled to go into a one-life knock-out round next week.
