P-West sells Coast publisher
Prime-West Corporation, Ltd, has sold the Guardian and Times Company, Ltd, publisher of the “Hokitika Guardian,” to Como Holdings, Ltd. Como, an unlisted public investment company, based on the West Coast, bought the Guardian and Times for an undisclosed sum. Mr Guy Pierce, the company secretary of Prime-West, said that the purchase was paid for in
"a mix,” presumably cash and shares. Como held no shares in Prime-West, although some of the individual directors might hold shares, he said. Mr Bruce Smith, a director of Como, was one of the founders of PrimeWesL Mr Smith resigned from Prime-West in February. The sale of the publishing company leaves Prime-West with only its sphagnum moss division on the West Coast Prime-West said in a statement that the moss factory at Hokitika had been rebuilt and that it was considered a profitable business.
