Pair’s yachting upset
Two division one yachtsmen, Nigel Merritt and Tom Histon, caused a big surprise by winning the second Joseph Kuhtze race series on the Estuary last Sunday. The pair lost the Opening race to Paul Duder and Phil Gurnsey by 10s, but came back with a vengeance to win the next three and finish third in the last event. In division two Andenoor, skippered by Robin Ward, won all four races.
The young Canterbury Yacht and Motor Boat Club P-class skipper, Neil Briggs, won all four division three races. .
