Flying Tui works well
jy Track
Special correspondent Palmerston North Flying Tui, preparing for hurdle racing in the next few weeks, showed that he will be no forlorn hope in the Real Estate Handicap at the Manawatu meeting tomorrow > when he ploughed through the soft ground extra well at Awapuni yesterday morning. A week of showery weather has left the course proper very much on the soft side, conditions Flying Tui revels in. The horse needed his run at Feilding yet with that under his belt and a track to suit he could improve dramatically. Flying Tui ran 800 m on a soft course proper in 53.45, the last 600 m in 38.85, good time in . the conditions. Form runner Mister Tee hit out well in the conditions when running 600 m in 395. He won well at Trentham and is an improved horse. Trainer, Kevin Hughes, is confident Mister Tee will handle tomorrow’s soft ground. Rainbow' Reason worked well over 600 m in 40.5 s and did not seem worried by thd conditions. He won well at Trentham and has a good chance in the Brevet Handicap. Bronze Valley, the likely Real Estate favourite, was restricted to an easy 800 m in 565, the last 600 m in 41s. His deeds in soft ground are well known and after a good race at Feilding he looks sure to be hard to beat. Infantry, in with a chance in the Anzac Handicap, ran. 1200 m in 1.265,
the last 600 m in 40s. He has come through recent racing well. So has Winter Cheer, a top chance in the Brevet Handicap. The horse has been handicapping himself by missing the start, otherwise his record would be much better. He worked over 1000 m in I.lls, the last 600 m in 425. He does not mind wet ground. Neither does Work of Art, a lightweight chance in the Real Estate Handicap. She ran 1200 m in 1.235, the last 600 m in 42.55.
Kintyre was timed 1000 m in 1.125, the last 600 m in 41s and Tigersun Nugget and Black Fury completed 800 m in 555, the last 600 m in 40s, with Black Fury in front Yorksmith, one of' the hardest to beat in the hurdles, ran 1200 m in 1.305, the last 600 m in 445. Mr Bunnythorpe worked over 800 m in 555, the last 600 m in 41s and Irish Boe, at ease in the grotind beat Coghill over 1200 m in 1.235, the last 600 m in 40.55. Kiba Dachi beat Wilder over 1200 m in 1.295, the last 600 m in 44.5 s and Valady ran 600 m in 44.55. Improving French Polish, a good chance at Woodville next week after a fine run at Otaki, ran 1000 m in I.los, the final 600 m in 40s. Amorous, not a certain starter tomorrow, was most impressive in run-
ning away from Golden Amethyst at the end of 1000 m in I.los, the last 600 m in 38.65.
