Airport to spend $22.7 million
The Christchurch Airport Authority plans to spend $22.7 million in the next year in running the airport. The sum includes $11.6 million for capital works. The biggest part of this is the interim development of the terminal building ($5.3 million). Other items are land ($l.B million), aircraft parking r ($l.l million), and park- ( ing and street works ■ ($600,000).
Also budgeted for is $2.5 million in tax.
Day-to-day operations are expected to cost $8.5 million.
The airport is one of the Christchurch City Council’s departments that does not draw from rates.
The airport draft budget was approved by the council’s airport committee yesterday and will now go to the budget subcommittee.
