Coast ‘felt ripped off, by Govt’
The West Coast community felt disillusioned and "ripped off by the present Government,” the New Zealand Party’s West Coast candidate, Mr Alan Blackadder, said. The party launched its 1987 election campaign in Greymouth last week-end, shortly after announcing Mr Blackadder’s candidacy for the seat.
“The Coast has always had links with the Labour Party but it now feels ripped off and totally disillusioned. it has suffered too much from Government and conservation group pressure. “The New Zealand Party is suggesting that responsibility for the Coast’s future should be placed in local hands.”
