Transplant fund
PA Wellington Fund-raising towards Ms Angela De Boer’s heart transplant will continue, in spite of a pledge from her church to meet what is left of the operation’s cost. A spokesman for the Reformed Church at Wainuiomata said that the branches of the church throughout New Zealand would ask their congregations to give towards the $120,000 heart transplant bill. But Mr Wim De Boer, Ms De Boer’s brother, said rather than relying on the church’s efforts, family and friends would continue to raise money. He said any money in excess of the final cost could stay in Ms De Boer’s trust fund for any future heart transplant patients. The church spokesman said that any extra money raised by the church would be held over for other charities.
