Proton Saga car sales disrupted

The Christchurch dealer in the recently imported Proton Saga cars from Malaysia has stopped trading on its new site, awaiting a decision of the Motor-Vehicle Dealers’ Licensing Board.

The board will meet in Wellington on Friday to consider an application by Warren Hammond Motors for a subsidiary licence to trade on the site where Proton Sagas are sold, at the corner of Moorhouse Avenue and Colombo

Street Mr Steve Hutchby, general manager of Direct Auto Imports, which brings the cars into New Zealand, said from. Auckland yesterday that trading at the site ceased on Monday evening. Mr Hutchby said the retail licence used for the site was that ,of Warren Hammond Motors. The licence, however, does not at present cover the site on which the Malaysian cars are sold.
