Belinda Trainor Trust
Sir, —I am writing concerning the Belinda Trainor Trust which I contributed to. After the death of Belinda Trainor I wrote to the trust to inquire as to what pur-
pose my donation was to be used. I received no reply. I still wish to know how the trust intends to use the funds subscribed for Belinda'Trainor, and the legality of disposing of the funds otherwise than for their original purpose without reference to the subscribers. Such lack of information from the trustees discourages people from contributing in answer to similar appeals.—Yours, etc., JANE GRAY. March 2, 1987.
[Mr G. McDermid, trustee for the Belinda Trainor Trust, replies: “First, we have no record of any communication with Jane Gray, but are more than happy to answer her queries. The Belinda Trainor Trust (Cant.) has dispersed the bulk of its funds to two patients, Mrs J. Dodds ($30,000) and Bryan Kiernander ($20,000). The balance of the money has been invested on fixed deposit so that the trust can remain perpetual, assisting heart-transplant patients in the future. The trust was set up legally to take into account the possibility of Belinda’s death, and in that event the trustees were given the power to disperse the money to other like heart-tran-splant patients. It would not be practical, as suggested, that all of the subscribers be contacted for their opinion as to how to disperse the funds on the death of Belinda. I trust this answers any queries Ms Gray might have and we thank all those who donated to this cause.”]
