Man charged with attempted murder
PA Auckland The police have charged a man, aged 22, with the attempted murder and sexual violation of an woman. The man, a wool recycler, of Waterview, will appear in the District Court at Auckland today. He was arrested yesterday by a police patrol in Otara. The woman he is alleged to have attacked will remain in Auckland Hospital at least a week. She was reported in a satisfactory condition last evening. The woman, aged 39, was raped repeatedly both inside and outside
her Avondale house, said the police. Her son, aged 14, returned from school about 3.30 p.m. to find his mother naked and bound and a man standing over her. ■■ - Inspector Peter Marshall 'Said the man threat-ened-the boy, who then ran to the nearby Avondale police station. Inspector Marshall said the attack came after the woman answered a knock at her door. After asking a question the man dragged her outside, raped her. several times, forced her back into the house, and raped her ’ again. .
