New role for basketball team
The Canterbuiy men’s basketball team will take on a new role at Cowles Stadium on Sunday morning; teaching youngsters.
The Countrywide league champions have invited children in Canterbury between the age of 10 and 14 to join training sessions during which individual squad members will take groups and spend an hour with them starting at 9 a.m. They can then watch the squad practise for two hours.
Canterbury has missed out on a pre-season game with Timaru this week-end but next week-end will go to Nelson for a triangular tournament against the home side and Saints of Wellington. Saints beat Canterbury in the North Island tournament final last week-end. The next week Nelson will play Otago in Dunedin.
