Nuclear stance

Sir, —I am 71 years old, English and ex-R.A.F. It was a disastrous day when in the euphoria of the Allied victory over the Nazis, Americans were allowed to establish nuclear air bases in Britain. Since the war American foreign policy has been disastrous for Europe and the Middle East. We should return a Labour Government at the next election as, in my view, keeping the South Pacific nuclear free is of paramount importance, overshadowing all other issues. My 10-year-old grandson, after seeing “The Day After” on television, said it should encourage many more people to join the campaign for nuclear disarmament. — Yours, etc.,

ERIC DENSTON. March 8, 1987.
