By

in London

The prime time television programme featuring New Zealand and the South Pacific as holiday destinations was seen by more than 14 million viewers in Britain — a quarter of the. entire population — this week and last.

“Wish You Were Here,” an ITV programme which screens at 7 p.m. on Mon-

days, last week drew the fourth highest audience rating figures for the week. A similar rating is expected this week when viewing figures are released.

The programme takes . television presenter Anneke Rice and a film crew to various destinations on an around-the-world air ticket provided by Air New Zealand and British Airways. The Cook Islands, New

Zealand and its international airline featured prominently in the last two 30 minute instalments. An Air New Zealand spokesman said the air-

. line was “extremely pleased” with the publicity both for itself and New' Zealand. Already, there had been a noticable increase in the number of inquiries about holiday visits to the South Pacific, he said.
