A convoy of 12 trucks approaches the Lyttelton road tunnel yesterday.
The string of low loaders and “big rigs” was carrying parts of two wool scours from the T.N.T. Seafast yards in Turakina Street to the
Auckland Express. The scours are valued at $3.1 million and weigh more than 20# tonnes. They are being exported to Australia by their Timaru manufacturer, Annett and Darling, Ltd. They have been
ordered by Swan Wools, of Fremantle, where they will process up to 3.5 tonnes of wool an hour. It is the forty-fifth and biggest single contract for Annett and Darling, which is regarded as a world leader in wool scour manufacturing.
