Probe on gangs still open
Police inquiries into gang activities in the South Island are not yet complete, according to the Minister of Police, Mrs Hercus. She was replying to questions in Parliament by Mr Maurice McTigue (Nat, Timaru). The first phase of the police investigation had
related to the activities of South Island gangs, after which another investigation had begun into the funding of gangs. Mrs Hercus said that once this second phase had been completed consideration would be given to what information could be released.
