Emcee to race at Addington
Special correspondent Invercargill Emcee will race at Addington on Friday night in preference to the Northern Southland Oncourse only meeting at Gore on Saturday. The Majestic Chance colt was paid up for Addington on Friday night and also in heat four of the Southern Supremacy Stakes Series on Saturday. “The Addington race, in which he has also drawn well, is a $lO,OOO group three feature,” ownertrainer, John Lischner, of Tapanui, said yesterday. Lischner said he was “delighted” with Emcee’s second to Shapiro in his heat of the Speights Series Championship at Forbury Park last Wednesday night. Emcee made up a huge stretch of ground in the home straight. Driver Henry Skinner was also enthusiastic about the dash the colt showed from a difficult position. “Henry very seldom
hands out accolades but, like me, he was particularly impressed,” Lischner said. Emcee is being set for a special three-year-old series during the Inter-Dominion Championships. Heats will be run on two nights before a grand final of $25,000. All going well, Emcee will then contest the final of the Southern Supremacy Stakes, a 2200 m mobile feature at Gore on April 6 with a guaranteed minimum stake of $13,000. Emcee’s major autumn mission will be the rich John Brandon Triple Crown series at Addington later in April.
