Cricket draw likely

NZPA-Reuter p or t Elizabeth Although there are still two days to go, the final unofficial cricket test between South Africa and the rebel Australians already appears doomed to a draw.

After three days South Africa is 326 for the loss of four wickets in reply to the Australians’ first innings 455 for nine declared. Yesterday was a rest day. With the wicket showing no signs of breaking up, there is little likelihood of either side

being able to force a victory today. This would leave South Africa 1-0 winners in the four-match series, a repeat of its triumph in the first rebel series last season.

Scores:— Australian XI first innings 455/9 dec. (K. C. Wessels 135, S. B. Smith 77, S. J. Rixon 61, G. Shipperd 53, A. A. Donald 3/94, O. Henry 3/96), South Africa first innings 326/4 (R. G. Pollock, 144 S. J. Cook 84, R. M. Hogg 3/66).
