Auton dominates sailing
Bob Auton, at the helm of Izzy, continued his dominance of the Power Boat Centre’s Farr six-metre match-racing contest at Lyttelton Harbour last Sunday. Auton, a former national title-holder in the Noelex 22 and Farr 6000 classes, was unbeaten, with six wins. In the semi-finals, Auton won by 20s from Q, skippered by Brent Connor. The contest produced spectacular broaches under spinnaker and several collisions.
In the Farr 7.5 matchracing series Zebra Crossing, skippered by Peter Bradley, won from Naitasi, with Graham Bloomfield on the helm. Results: Farr 6m match racing (13 boats): Izzy (B. Auton) 1, Interceptor (K. Drewett) 2, Blu Byu (J. May) 3. Farr 7.5 m match racing (6 boats): Zebra Crossing (P. Bradley) 1, Naitasi (G. Bloomfield) 2, Geronimo (H. Dimock) 3.
