Bonus on books
Sir, —I have read with interest the comments by certain publishers regarding the donation of books to be catalogued in the national library system. Although it has cost our company to present books to the library, this has been offset by the orders which have originated from the national bibliography which is compiled from the books which we donate. For those publishers who produce expensive books, say over $lOO, perhaps a system could be devised to offset the donation, but, in our case, where we have over the last seven years published books under $2O, then I shall continue to donate them and reap the subsequent benefit in being noted in a publication which has nationwide significance. — Yours, etc., ASHLEY V. KING, Marketing manager, Concept Marketing, Publishing. January 29, 1987.
