Blovinski sharp in training sprint

By J. J. BOYLE

The talented stablemates Blovinski and Robinski wound up for their engagements at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting tomorrow with a smart trial on the plough at Riccarton yesterday. They hurried over 1200 m in 1:15.4, the last 600 m in 375, and finished on terms. Blovinski had the outside running and was giving weight to his three-year-old companion, but produced his usual efficient work rate.

Robinski’s mission is the Black Heart Rum Handicap, a 1600 m event for three-year-olds.

In his most recent race on his home track Robinski beat a field of three-year-olds at the New Zea-

land Cup meeting. Robinski, David Walsh’s mount, has 52.5 kg and is 4.5 kg below the Paddy Busuttin-trained Ysatis, which was a creditable sixth in the South Island Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes last Saturday.

Chris Johnson has been engaged to ride Ysatis tomorrow.

His Latest, a second runner for the Tom Lalor stable in the Lion Brown Handicap tomorrow, returned 1:19.6 for 1200 m in his solo trial on the plough yesterday. He quickened for the last 600 m in 38.65.

Another Decision, Chris Johnson’s mount in the 1600 m maiden race tomorrow, yesterday rushed over 600 m on the plough in 36.85. Her stablemate

Another Look, which failed to get off the emergency list in the South Island Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes, worked away easily from the 1200 m, and quickened for the last 600 m in 395. ' Noble Ella looked as if she had come through Saturday’s race satisfactorily when she did striding work yesterday. She was lengthening a sizeable list of seconds behind talented gallopers when runner-up to Connie Lawn in the South Island Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes.

Noble Ella’s appearances in the role of "bridesmaid” in her three-year-old racing were behind Canterbury Belle, Orb, and Bi Noble.
