Traditional values
Sir, —It looks as if, thanks partly to Britain, the educational counter-revolution in New Zealand will succeed. For 20 years New Zealand parents taking part in the spontaneous, but apparently hopeless, rebellion against an ominous new control and the threat of a new servitude felt beleaguered. They had no leadership apart from spokesmen for. the various organisations representing them and the heartening example of a great headmaster (Mr Graham, of Auckland) thumbing his nose at the would-be controllers who, by means of legislation and propaganda, looked set to drown out every dissenter. What is happening in Britain is changing it all. There, the independent "Hillgate
group” of leading British academics is resolved to put an end to Leftist control, the disappearance of:, discipline, "thb’ruto of mediocrity garbed as equality,”, promotion of “Safe” sexual intercourse for children, and declining classroom standards; and to restore traditional fam|ly Values. Will a similar group form here?—-Yours, et<?., D.ELLIOT-HOGG N.Z. Organisation for Moral Education. January 9, 1987.
