Ann Shurrock leads
PA New Plymouth The Commonwealth Games representative, Ann ShUrrock, increased her lead in the women’s recurve target event at the national archery championships at New Plymouth yesterday. Shurrock, of Ashburton, was 25 points ahead of Auckland’s Alison McCarrison when events were adjourned on Monday. Yesterday morning she
extended that lead to 51 points. New Plymouth’s Judy Hunt was in third place and the Olympic Games representative, Neroli Fairhall, of Christchurch, was fourth. The national men’s event continues to be a closely-fought affair. Mike Smerdon has 727 points and a fellow Aucklander, Shane Switzer, follows with 723.
