Repair job at park
Part of the embankment at Lancaster Park is off limits to park patrons until repairs can be done. Barriers and "no entry” signs cordon an area at each end of the embankment. People watching recent cricket matches have been directed away from these areas. The areas are out of bounds because the steps need repair, said the Victory Park Board’s secre-tary-manager, Mr
Barrett. The annual inspection by engineers for the park’s public building licence last month revealed the need for the repairs. Until work was completed the licence would not be given, Mr Barrett said yesterday. There would be a delay because most contractors were on holiday. He estimated the work would cost about $5OO.
