Mornington win S.I. fours final
PA Dunedin The Mornington team of Ross Fenton, Ernie Andrews, Ross Palmer and Ross Heazlewood beat a Milton combination, 23-22, in the fours final at the South Island bowls championship at Balclutha yesterday. Milton (Des Fraser, Donald Allison, Gerry Wyber and gFred Patrick) had been down, 5-13, at the morning tea break and looked to be heading for an ignominious defeat But it clawed back with some accurate draw bowls and led, 18-16, after 20 ends. Andrews had struggled a bit after the break but put his game together when it really counted to draw the shot on the first extra end and seal the win.
Ross Palmer was the most dominant of the Momington team and gained a two to one advantage over Wyber. ■”
