Superior run rate
PA Wellington Auckland won the Shell Cup yesterday thanks to its superior net average run rate per over throughout the competition. Auckland and the defending champion, Canterbury, both won four matches, but Auckland’s run rate was the better, thanks largely to high scoring in its final two
matches against Central Districts and Northern Districts. Points in the Shell Cup after yesterday’s fifth and final round. — W L Pt Auckland 4 1 8 Canterbury 4 1 8 Wellington 3 2 6 Otago 2 3 4 Central 2 3 4 Northern 0 5 0
