Wind surfer saved by Sumner patrol

A wind surfer caught in a rip at Sumner yesterday became the first person to be rescued this season by the Canterbury Surf Lifesaving Association paid patrols. Mr Geoff Barry, a spokesman for the association, said a wind

surfer who had sailed out into the Estuary about 2 p.m. yesterday, had fallen off his board and had been caught in a

rip. Members of the association used the inflatable rescue boat (1.R.8.) to rescue the man.
