Cooksley to ride Tidal Light
PA Auckland Grant Cooksley is to replace the injured Michael Coleman on Tidal Light in the $250,000 New Zealand Derby at Ellerslie on Friday. Co-trainer Jim Gibbs confirmed yesterday that a special late payment had been made last Friday for the filly to start in
the Derby. Tidal Light, winner of the Wrightson Waikato Guineas and Auckland Breeders’ Avondale Guineas, has been the regular ride of Coleman, who is apprenticed to Gibbs and who broke a bone in his right hand at Avondale on December 13.
