Slow start to service

The Youth for Christ’s 24-hour solvent abuse telephone advisory service had a slow start this week, but workers were not disappointed. There had been only “several” calls since the service started on Monday, said the Y.F.C.’s director, Mr John Pritchard, but the service was still in touch with groups involved with solvent abuse.

“It’s all very positive,” he said.

A lack of advertising had probably caused the slow response to the service, but this would be put right in January. The service’s telephone number is 66-497.
