Married priest ordained
PA* Dunedin The Catholic Bishop of Dunedin, the Most Rev. L. A. Boyle, wore the same vestments as Pope John Paul II wore when he said mass in Christchurch, when New Zealand’s first married Catholic priest was ordained at a ceremony in Gore on Friday evening.
The Rev. George Arthur was admitted to the priesthood in front of his wife and children and several brothers and sisters who had travelled from throughout New Zealand to be with him.
