Council ‘not given time for report’
The chairman of the Heathcote County Council, Mr Oscar Alpers, is concerned that the council has not been given enough time for the next report on local body reorganisation in Christchurch.
The second report is due to be completed by the end of January. However, Mr Alpers told a council meeting that with the Christmas holiday period and scheduled staff absences intervening, that date might prove unachievable. The next conciliation meeting has been set down for February 3, 1987, but that date would be dependent on completion of the report, Mr Alpers said.
