Honours to Wellington pipe band

PA Levin The City of Wellington Highland Pipe Band took the champion band honours at Palmerston North’s Highland Square day. The band won the grade 1 set and open medley and also the champion drum • corps award. It won the new trophy given by Clan McPhee for the open medley. The contest attracted 16 bands. Auckland’s MacLeay Duff band was runner-up in the open medley and shared second place in the grade 1 set with Wellington Police. The City of Wellington band will play at next year’s Edinburgh Tattoo. The Palmerston North contest, held by the Manawatu Scottish Society, included solo piping, drumming, and dancing.
