Officers held at bay
PA Auckland A driver punched two traffic officers and stood on one of the pair’s spectacles as he brandished a knife at them, the District Court at Auckland was told. He held them at bay until arrested by a police dog handler. Frank Fitt, aged 22, an
unemployed concrete worker, of Glen Innes, admitted two counts of assaulting the officers and possessing an offensive weapon.
Judge Gilbert said the courts could not tolerate this type of assault and remanded Fitt for sentence on $lOOO bail and a surety of the same amount.
