Film of the year
NZPA-AFP New York “Hannah and Her Sisters,” a comedy directed by Woody Allen, has been named the best film of the year by the New York film critics.
A Canadian film, “Le Declin de I’Empire Americain” (the Decline of the American Empire) by Denys Arcand, was voted the best foreign film of 1986.
Film critics in Los Angeles last week-end also chose “Hannah and Her Sisters” the best film of the year. The choices of the prestigious New York and Los Angeles film writers often indicate which films will win the Oscars in Febru-
ary. The New York critics named Sissy Spacek best actress of the year for her role in “Crimes of the Heart,” and Bob Hoskins best actor for his role in “Mona Lisa.”
