‘Porn’ postcards kept
NZPA-AP London A postwoman who refused to deliver seaside postcards because she claimed they were pornographic was jailed for seven days yesterday. Margaret Kenny, aged 21, a part-time postwoman of High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, kept the postcards, which showed topless beach girls. Mr Roger Williams, prosecuting at the High Wycombe Magistrates Court, said that after complaints of missing mail, Kenny’s
home was searched. “In her bedroom three
picture postcards were found which had been due for delivery by her. She said that she refused to deliver them because she considered them pornographic. “Although they may not be in the best of taste, they don’t contravene the Post Office Act,” said Mr Williams. Kenny admitted two charges of not delivering the postcards and of opening 19 other packages. She blamed pre-menstrual tension.
