Four pacers stood down
PA Invercargill Just Vicki, Alpha Lee, Sir Chris and Bureaucrat, were stood down from racing on the first day of the Invercargill Trotting Club’s Christmas twilight meeting on Tuesday. Just Vicki (Henry Skinner), which broke and fell after 400 metres of the Robin Dundee Mobile Pace, was stood down from stake-bearing races until January 16 and must trial satisfactorily before resuming. Alpha Lee, which broke and lost all chance in the same race, was also stood down from stake bearing races until it trials to the satisfaction of a stipendiary steward.
The connections of Sir Chris and Bureaucrat were told after the Waverley Mobile Pace
No. 1 that their horses would be stood down from stake-bearing races for a month (up to and including January 16). Both have to trial to the satisfaction of a stipendiary steward before resuming. Bureaucrat broke in the run-up behind the gate and took no further part. Sir Chris broke in a handy position and disorganized trailing horses which had to take evasive action.
