A.B.S. purchase shares in stallions
NZPA Wellington The publicly-listed Australasian Breeding Stables have pulled off a major coup with the purchase of half shares in the exceptional sire prospects Palace Music and Dahar. The public company, a big spender in recent months, closed the deal, worth 5NZ29.25 million to owners Nelson Bunker Hunt-and Allen Paulson, on Monday.
The stallions, currently in the Hollywood Park racing stables of a leading United States conditioner, Charles Whittingham, will be bred with their first book of mares in the coming Northern Hemisphere breeding season and be brought to one of A.B.S.’ three stud bases in time for the next Southern Hemisphere breeding season.
They will then alternate between hemispheres, breeding with restricted books of 40 to 45 mares;
