Tests for 2,4,5-T
PA Wellington Tests would be made on 20 farms for exposure to 2,4,5-T and dioxin through food, the Government said yesterday. Ten of the farms would have histories of using the herbicide and the other 10 would not, according to the Minister of the Environment, Mr Goff. On each, 10 ewes and 10 lambs would be slaughtered and the carcases tested for 2,4,5-T and dioxin, Mr Goff said. The study would try to find whether the concentration of 2,4,5-T in the food chain meant people were being exposed to higher doses than those assumed from direct exposure to the chemical.
